The Castle of Mandela
"Landmark of the Grand Tour, the Castle of Mandela is a fortress of Ancient Roman and Medieval origins."
Castillo del Gallo di Roccagiovine

Mandela is home to rich Roman history, and will be the first location of Peregrine Immersion. It was first inhabited in approximately 5th century BC by Aequi, an ancient nation from the Apennine Mountains in Central Italy. Romans gained power over it in 304 BC, and it became an area of strategic importance because of its location above the military and commercial traffic between Rome and Subiaco.* Over the years, the castle was bought and turned into a romantic stately home eventually by Napoleons grand niece Julie Bonaparte. They hosted an international literary salon and were "patrons of intellectual freedom and of the arts."*
